Do you take insurance?I am out of network with all health insurance providers. This is an intentional choice that will allow you and I to determine the structure and length of your therapy based on your unique needs, not the requirements of an insurance company. I am able to provide you with a superbill, which can be used to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network benefits.

What are your fees?Fees are based on the the type, length, and frequency of therapy needed to best serve you. We will discuss fees and any questions you have during the free consultation. All payments are due at the time of service. In an effort to make my services more accessible, I do have a limited number of reduced fee spots available for clients.

How would you describe your approach as a therapist? My clients and colleagues describe me as a warm, welcoming, and compassionate person. Relationships are critically important in shaping who we are as people and how we experience the world. With this in mind, we will spend time in therapy talking about current and past relationships (including our relationship as therapist and client), with the goal of helping you to develop more fulfilling, intimate, and authentic relationships today and in turn, to feel better emotionally and physically. Along with this relational focus, my approach is also influenced by existential therapy (our search for a “meaningful” life, whatever that means to you), narrative therapy (the stories we embrace and tell about ourselves), and trauma-informed therapy and practices (EMDR, somatic work, etc.), among others. Together, you and I will work to help you create the life you desire.

What can I expect from my first session? The first session is unique and will typically last between 60-90 minutes. During that time we will get to know each other and I will ask questions about what brought you into therapy and your history. I’ll gather information needed to help me understand past and present factors that influenced your choice to enter therapy. Additionally, we will discuss both of our expectations for therapy, practice policies, confidentiality, and provide the opportunity for you to ask as many questions as you desire. Ultimately, effective therapy depends on the right fit with your therapist, so we will be open and honest about what you are looking for in a therapist and whether I am the right fit for you. My hope is that you leave the first session feeling heard, informed of what to expect, and hopeful about our work together!

What is a Good Faith Estimate? In accordance with the No Surprises Act that went into effect 1/1/2022, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) which details how much your psychotherapy sessions will cost if you are not using insurance or plan to use out-of-network benefits. You have the right to have information about the estimate of your psychotherapy costs in writing at least 1 day prior to your service. Additionally, if you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your GFE, you can dispute the bill.
-
What is your cancellation policy? If you find that you need to cancel and reschedule a session, I need at least a 24-hour advance notice. Please keep in mind that your appointment time is reserved for you and if you are unable to provide at least a 24-hour notice, you will be responsible for the rate of the full service that was scheduled.
-
Will my information and session content remain confidential?I utilize a HIPAA-compliant electronic health record (EHR) and telehealth software. Your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance to me and I will not waiver on maintaining the highest standards necessary for my clients. Any limits to confidentiality will be discussed in detail during the intake session (first session).

Why is your practice called New Roots Therapy?I am fascinated by the ways that tree and plant roots grow, adapt, share nutrients through mycelial networks, and provide stability despite the onslaught of numerous external forces. I think this metaphor provides some beautiful overlaps with the human experience. Our "root systems" can grow, heal, form new connections, re-stabilize us, and nourish us no matter what we have experienced. Therapy is one way to heal and reconnect our root system so we can ultimately live the life we desire.
